ColumbusAEC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Columbus community through educational programs, leadership development, and collaborative initiatives. Our classes and workshops serve learners of all ages,helping them grow academically,professionally, and personally. We’re looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join our team as Educator/Teaching Interns.
Position Overview
This internship is ideal for aspiring educators, student teachers, or anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in curriculum development, classroom management, and learner engagement. Interns will assist experienced instructors in designing lesson plans, facilitating classes, and supporting students both online and in-person.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Support: Collaborate with lead instructors to develop and refine lesson plans, worksheets, and other educational materials.
- Classroom Assistance: Assist in delivering lessons, guiding group discussions, and helping learners navigate course materials.
- Student Engagement: Provide one-on-one or small-group support, addressing individual questions, and ensuring all learners stay on track.
- Assessment & Feedback: Help evaluate student performance and progress; provide constructive feedback under the guidance of lead instructors.
- Administrative Duties: Manage attendance records, prepare resources, and handle general classroom logistics.
- Program Enhancement: Contribute ideas for improving curriculum design, teaching methods, and overall student experience.
Qualifications & Skills
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from an education or related degree program (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for teaching and empowering diverse communities.
- Basic familiarity with instructional technology and tools (e.g., Google Classroom, online learning platforms) is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing classroom environments and student needs.
- Organized, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
