Carla and Brian Verhaaren are lifelong residents of the Salt Lake area. For the past 20 years, they have made their home in Sugar House, where they raised their three children.

Both graduated from the University of Utah, where Carla earned her degree in Education and Brian earned a degree in Marketing, as well as an advanced degree in Information Systems. They continue to support the U, where two of their children are currently pursuing degrees, and have previously served on the Young Alumni Board.

Carla loves working with children, having started her career as an elementary school teacher at Upland Terrace Elementary, and has operated a beloved neighborhood preschool from her home for years.

Active in supporting their community through service, they have volunteered with a variety of charitable and religious organizations, focusing on addiction recovery, community outreach, and homeless services.
