Volunteer Spotlight – Heidi Ahlers

From Heidi:

I found out about the volunteer opportunities at Columbus Adult Education through the Just Serve website. My children are grown so I have some free time.

I want to help someone improve their life. Living in a country where you don’t speak the language is difficult, especially if you need to work or go to school.

I am grateful that the students have a place where they can learn and become more confident speaking, reading, and writing in English.

I am a nurse. In my free time, I like to knit, garden, and play my violin.

We love having Heidi with us.

Not only is she a wonderful teacher, but she is also very flexible and willing to help wherever she is needed. She has a great smile that is so inviting. It speaks friendship to our students.

Her gentle, kind demeanor makes learning at CAEC a positive experience.
