Dr. Kamal Bewar was born in Kurdistan, Iraq, and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, as a refugee. Despite his challenges as a new arrival, Dr. Bewar’s dedication to education led him to earn a doctoral degree. He is a passionate advocate for communities in need and a prominent leader of the Kurdish community in Utah. As the founder and current President of the Kurdish Community of Utah, he has played a crucial role in supporting and empowering his community.Dr. Bewar has extensive experience in teaching, community service, and student advising. His career includes over nine years of service as an assistant professor with the Department of Defense, where he taught Kurdish and Arabic. He continues impacting lives through his work at Salt Lake Community College. Dr. Bewar is also a devoted husband and proud father of a wonderful son.
